Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you may have heard by now, we are in the process of answering God's call to be church planters in Virginia Beach, VA. There is a long story behind this call, but suffice it to say, this is a huge "unknown" for us and we truly need your prayers. We have a vision to start a church which will reach Navy personnel and their families for Christ, teach them His ways, and send them out as missionaries at government expense. Having lived in Virginia Beach for 7-1/2 years and working for the Navy for 6-1/2 years, I grew to have a tremendous respect and appreciation for our military and their families. They make significant sacrifices each and every day. However, my heart breaks when I realize a person can die in service for his country and still end up in hell because of his sin.
The following is a prayer list we have developed which has some specific needs that must be met for us to be able to go. Therefore, would you help us with your prayers? We cannot do this in our strength alone. I ask that you please reply to this e-mail if you want to be one of our prayer partners.
1. Pray for God to raise up a tremendous harvest of souls being saved.
2. Pray for laborers to go out into this harvest in Virginia Beach.
3. Pray for God to continue to affirm His call to church planting.
4. Pray for the approval process to go well with our SBCV State Convention. I'm hoping all our paperwork will be completed prior to their October meeting, otherwise, we will have to wait for the December meeting. They are currently checking our references and then we will have an extensive interview with them.
5. Pray for God to reveal to us exactly where he wants us to plant a church.
6. Pray for us to meet a "person of peace" (Matt. 10 & Luke 10) who will be able to open doors for us in the community.
7. Pray for God to begin raising up a committed Leadership Team that will guide this new church.
8. Pray we will be able to sell our house quickly and for a good price. The major factor that would keep us from going to our mission field would be having to make two house payments.
9. Pray for protection upon our family and for us to maintain unity in this endeavor.
