Easter is just 35 days away, and in preparation for celebrating Jesus' resurrection I will be posting some devotional thoughts.
Growing up I remember Easter being about the Easter bunny, getting candy, new clothes for church, and a lamb cake. Now most of you can probably relate to the first three, but you're wondering what a lamb cake is.
My grandmother would have a cake made in the shape of lamb, and I'm not talking about a pan cake cut out into the shape of lamb. This cake looked like a lamb laying on the ground with its legs folded under its body. It was quite uniqe and it was a shame to eat it since it was a work of art. For the longest time, I was clueless as to why she did this, because afterall Easter was about the Easter bunny. Right?
Of course, I learned Jesus is called the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29), and this cake was made in honor of Him.
What do you think of when you think of Easter? I pray you will think of Jesus first!!
Cake anyone?
