Easter Countdown - Day 16

Jesus said that "man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." (Mt. 4:4) He said this after fasting for 40 days in the wilderness, and as a result He was hungry. The devil came to Him and urged Him to command the stones to become bread, and thus satisfy His physical hunger. Although Jesus could easily have turned the stones to bread, He never used His divine powers for His own gratification. Jesus is demonstrating for us that which is essential for our spiritual well being. While bread may satisfy our physical hunger, only the Word of God can feed our spiritual hunger.
