Jesus died on Good Friday, but of course the disciples did not know at the time how good that day really was. They had not yet experienced the power of Christ resurrection. Yes, Jesus died on Friday and because of the Sabbath, His followers did not come to the tomb that Saturday. What a long, dark day that must have been. Their minds could only have been filled with despair and disillusionment. They had no clue what to do next. All they could do was mourn. What a long day that must have been.
Imagine their joy, when on the first day of the week, their world is turned upside down again. First, their world was shattered at Jesus' death, but now His resurrection picked up those broken pieces and glued them back together in a manifestly new way. They could no longer be the same now that they had seen Jesus. Is your life the same after meeting Jesus?
