"Free"

As a church planter, one of my favorite words is, "free." Whenever some asks if we need something for the church and then they say the magic words, "It's free." I immediately say yes, even if I'm not sure what I'll do with it. Of course this can lead to stuff piling up, waiting for the opportunity to arise in order to use it.

As I think about something be free, I realize that while something may be free to me, it has cost somebody something. The salvation we have in Christ is free to us, but it is very costly to God. The Bible says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23

So the next time you think about something being free, ask yourself who has paid for it. I just rejoice that God was willing to purchase my salvation and offer it to me as a gift!!
